Mad March Hits the Shabbas

3/21/2014

On Sunday 2nd March, two of our Shabbas, laced up their shoes & headed off in their bunny outfits sorry red shirts to run the March Hair Raiser run by Wolverhampton & Bilston Athletic Club

The March Hair Raiser is a six and a half mile off road race starting from from Kingswood near Albrighton, on the Wolverhampton to Shifnal road.

Our brave bunnies sorry Shabbas were Greg Meacham & Morphman.

So how did they get on?

I entered the March Hair Raiser as part of a charity challenge to do 20+ official runs this year! It was very COLD & WINDY and it was mainly serious club runners there. It was good to see friendly face in Morphman.

(Yes folks! Greg knows what lies beneath the blue hood!).

The highlight of the event was seeing friendly faces at the finish line! There were a painful few miles at end as I was feeling some pain in my right Achilles. I was glad to see those faces!
My finish time was 44.15. I'm always pleased to be running so times are genuinely irrelevant to me. I will take memories from each run! I'm looking forward to next Sunday were I'm running the Fradley 10k with Sarah, Chris and Morphman.

I've done this race twice before, it's nice scenery but a challenging course and hilly. It was a was quietish atmosphere with about 165 runners, I normally prefer big races with the masses as you see all the happy faces and the excitement gets you going. But I loved today. I've done this race since I started running so it really shows me how I've improved each year. The highlight for me would be the battle I had with a bloke for 6.5mile just to keep my placing. For every second of the race we battled. He had beat me until the last 400 metres. I put my foot down and gained 6 seconds on him.
When I first ran this event in 2012 my finish time was 50:34. In 2013 it was 44:15.
This year it's 43:28!
I was so happy when the official times came in :)
I've got loads of marathons and ultras coming up but my next race is Fradley 10k and I'm hoping to break the sub 40 mark.

Think you'll agree we have two bouncing bunnies happy Shabbas!
